Assassin's Creed Mirage Nostalgia

Short and sweet.

It seems as though publisher Ubisoft is committed to delivering the short and sweet gameplay experience it alluded to earlier this year with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. In a recent interview with French YouTuber Julien Chièze, Lead producer Fabian Salomon shared insights on the game’s map size and estimated gameplay duration.

This article has recently been updated to confirm how long Assassin’s Creed Mirage is, including all quests.

Assassin’s Creed Isn’t as Long as Previous Games

Unlike the vast multi-nation maps seen in recent Assassin’s Creed titles, Mirage’s map will resemble the scale of Constantinople in Revelations or Paris in Unity. According to Salomon, players can expect to complete the main story and roll credits within 20 to 30 hours.

Salomon said, “the latest playtimes we’ve received average at around 20–23 hours. That can go up to 25–30 hours for the completionists, and we’ll say that those who will be rushing the game will be around 20 hours.”

This return to a shorter gameplay will be music to the ears of those who dislike the series’ evolution to enormous-scale open-world epics in recent years. Mirage is set to switch its focus from giant sandbox RPG to more of a stealth-action focus that is designed to feel similar to the original trilogy. The early Assassin’s Creed games typically lasted around 40 hours at most. Odyssey and Valhalla, meanwhile, were 100-hour slogs.
