Finally.

Bethesda has rolled out the latest update for its popular RPG, Starfield. This brings a couple of notable enhancements to the game, with the headline feature being the much-requested Field of View (FOV) slider.

Starfield Patch 1.7.36 Notes Adds FOV Slider

The introduction of the FOV slider has been highly anticipated by the Starfield community, as it allows players to customize their field of view to their liking. This addition enhances the gaming experience by providing greater flexibility and control over the in-game perspective. Previously this was only available as a mod.

In addition to the FOV slider, Bethesda has also addressed stability issues specific to PC players utilizing Intel Arc GPUs. These stability improvements are expected to provide a smoother and more consistent gaming experience for players on this hardware.

Bethesda has been actively listening to the feedback from the Starfield community since its release on September 6, 2023. Last month, the studio revealed its commitment to delivering on “top community requested features.” These included an FOV slider, brightness and contrast controls, an HDR calibration menu, Nvidia DLSS support, ultrawide monitor support, and an eat button for food.

While this latest patch hasn’t quite added all of those, it’s at least made a start. Here’s the full patch notes:

GENERAL

  • FOV: Sliders are now available in Settings that allow players using first person or third person to adjust their FOV.

PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY

  • [PC ONLY] Improved stability for Intel Arc GPUs.
  • Various additional stability and performance improvements.

QUEST

  • Echoes of the Past: Addressed an issue where tunneling creatures could pick a location that would prevent progression.

Starfield generated a huge buzz leading up to its release, with players who pre-ordered the Premium Edition or Constellation Edition gaining early access to the game five days before its official launch date.

Notably, Bethesda announced on September 19 that Starfield had achieved a remarkable milestone by reaching 10 million players within its initial release period. This impressive player count solidified Starfield’s position as “the biggest launch in Bethesda history,” demonstrating the high demand and enthusiasm for the sci-fi RPG.

Players can look forward to further improvements and additions as Bethesda continues to support Starfield with updates that cater to the evolving needs and desires of the gaming community. With the inclusion of the FOV slider and other highly requested features. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.

Starfield is available exclusively on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
