During Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) unveiled new information about their upcoming expansion for the popular sci-fi game Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. Not only did we get more gameplay footage in this latest Phantom Liberty trailer but a release date as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Trailer & Release Date
The trailer showcased the expansion’s captivating premise, taking players to a fresh location within Night City known as Dogtown. The objective? To embark on a daring mission to rescue the president of the New United States. Additionally, fans were treated to a glimpse of Idris Elba’s new character, while the beloved Keanu Reeves will be reprising his role in the expansion. According to the trailer, players can expect to dive into this thrilling experience on September 26th.
In December, CDPR announced the addition of Idris Elba to the game’s cast specifically for the expansion. Elba portrays a character named Solomon Reed. Set in an unexplored region of Night City, Phantom Liberty is being described as a “spy-thriller expansion” by CDPR.
However, Cyberpunk 2077’s new update will only be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, omitting last-gen consoles in an effort to prevent a repeat of the troubled initial launch.
Despite its rocky start, Cyberpunk 2077 managed to sell over 20 million copies as of September 2022. Moreover, fans of the franchise have even more to anticipate, as CDPR has begun development on the next installment, tentatively codenamed “Orion.”
