All Sons of the Forest 1.0 Crafted Weapon Recipes
It’s worth noting that not all weapons in Sons of the Forest 1.0 are found. Some you’ll have to craft yourself using basic gears and materials found across the island. These include entry-level weapons useful in the early game:
- Crafted Bow: 1 Duct Tape, 1 Rope, 2 Sticks
- Crafted Club: 1 Rope, 1 Skull, 1 Stick
- Crafted Spear: 1 Duct Tape, 2 Sticks, 1 Utility Knife
To upgrade your weapons with Solafite in, place the weapon and Solafite in the furnace. The melting process takes around 5 minutes, during which you’ll be attacked by mutants, so be prepared to defend yourself!
Obtaining the Furnace: To get the furnace for weapon upgrades, explore a cave in the western part of the map. Inside, break the wooden boards on the left at a T-junction to find the crafting recipe near some skeletons. The cave also leads to a pickaxe if you go right and slide down a slope.
Furnace Crafting Requirements:
- 11x Sticks
- 4x Golf Cart Batteries
- 7x Stones
- 3x Cables/Wire
- 3x Turtle Shells
Upgrading Process:
- Place your weapon in the furnace.
- Add 6x Solafite.
- Press ‘Start’ at the batteries to begin the melting process.
Defending Against Mutants: During the upgrade, mutants will attack, drawn by the sparks from the furnace. The strength of the mutants depends on your game progress and the number of killed cannibals.
Upgrade Duration: The time it takes to upgrade weapons can vary. For example, the fire axe might take 8 minutes, the revolver 4 minutes, and the katana 5 minutes. This could be affected by server connection or the host’s network in co-op games.
Safest Method for Weapon Upgrades: To protect yourself during the upgrade, find a defensible high ground, set up traps, and stock up on ammunition, explosives, and Molotov cocktails. Avoid using tree platforms or treehouses as they can be destroyed by mutants.
5 Best Weapons in Sons of the Forest 1.0
Not all of Sons of the Forest‘s weapons are created equal. Here are our picks for the five best weapons to seek out:
5. Firefighter’s Axe: The most challenging axe to acquire, but its high damage and blocking ability make it a top choice for melee combat. It’s slower to swing but can deal significant damage and chop down trees efficiently.
4. Pistol: An early-game firearm that can be found near an emergency raft off the coast. It may not deal massive damage, but with the right attachments, it becomes a versatile weapon against various enemies.
3. Revolver: A powerful handgun found in Maintenance Bunker C, the revolver offers better stopping power than the pistol and uses the same 9mm ammunition, making it a more efficient choice for dealing with mutants.
2. Shotgun: The best firearm in the game, the shotgun can be obtained from an underground nightclub or by digging up an operative’s grave. It offers a choice between buckshot and slugs, providing versatility and immense stopping power.
1. Katana: The ultimate melee weapon in Sons of the Forest, the katana boasts lightning-fast attack speed and high damage output. Its ability to sever limbs and heads quickly makes it the top weapon choice for players. When upgraded to the Solafite variant, this is the best weapon in the game.
