Purge the taint from the Crossroad

The Crossroad in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a vital hub, allowing quick travel across the realms through enchanted mirrors. However, this unique location has fallen under siege by dark forces, and cleansing it of corruption has become essential. Among the threats to eliminate is the Betrayal of Felassan—a boss you can only encounter after a battle with another powerful enemy in Treviso. Here’s your guide to finding and vanquishing the Betrayal of Felassan and restoring peace to the Crossroad.

Beating the Betrayal of Felassan Quest

Step 1: Unlocking the Betrayal of Felassan Encounter

To access the Betrayal of Felassan fight, you must first conquer Desmal, a mini-boss found at Treviso. This powerful Darkspawn serves as a significant barrier, particularly during the A Slow Poison side quest, though you’re welcome to face it before officially accepting this mission.

Desmal brings fire-based attacks and is no pushover at Level 25. Expect it to hurl flames and unleash a line of fire spikes followed by a leaping attack. If you’re not a warrior, bring Davrin along, as his taunt ability is perfect for distracting Desmal’s fiery onslaughts.

Tip: Desmal’s moves are relentless and unblockable, so fighting from a distance can give you an edge. Once Desmal’s health drops to half, it will summon explosive Blight tumors, which you’ll need to avoid striking. Be patient, manage your distance, and, with persistence, you’ll be able to claim its essence.

After besting Desmal, teleport to the Crossroad. To locate the Betrayal of Felassan arena, track the Gate of Deep Sorrows quest in your Journal, and you’ll eventually reach the battleground hidden behind Blight-covered thorns. Be prepared to fight your way through several waves of Level 24 enemies to reach the final arena.

Step 2: Strategies for the Betrayal of Felassan Boss Fight

The Betrayal of Felassan is a Level 32 powerhouse wielding Ice magic, and this foe doesn’t hold back. The boss battle includes a variety of attacks and periodic mobs summoned to complicate things. Here’s what you’ll be up against:

  • Spear Thrust: Felassan may try a close-range spear jab or, alternatively, a downward plunging strike.
  • Ice Projectiles: These massive ice orbs will inflict Chill, so dodge them quickly to avoid getting slowed down.
  • Ice Whirlwind: Similar to the projectiles but covering a wider area. When you see Felassan aim its shield and hunker down, prepare to dodge.
  • AoE Freeze Attack: Felassan will freeze a large circular area, dealing AoE damage that can devastate your health.

Despite its bulky appearance, Felassan moves quickly, so keep up your agility. Unlike Desmal, this boss does have some blockable attacks, but dodging is often more effective. Make sure to command your allies wisely, using their abilities at critical moments to maximize your chances.

Pro Tip: Try not to engage Felassan until you’re at least Level 25. This will help you withstand its high-damage attacks and better utilize your team’s abilities.

Rewards for Victory

Defeating the Betrayal of Felassan grants you the coveted Burden Amulet. This powerful item boosts your damage by 20% when you’re at low health. Be aware, though—it also caps your max health at 70%, so it’s a risk-reward trade-off.

Good luck, hero. The Crossroad awaits its savior!
