As expected, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a massive game, building upon everything that made its predecessor great while refining combat, world interactivity, and quest design. The two explorable regions are filled with secrets, side quests, and various activities, ensuring there’s plenty to do beyond the main story. Naturally, this raises the question—how long does it actually take to beat KCD 2? Whether you’re aiming for a single playthrough or speedrunning multiple runs, here’s a breakdown of what to expect in terms of playtime.
How Long Does It Take to Beat Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Playtime will always vary based on how you approach the game, but based on my first run, here’s a general estimate.
During my initial playthrough, I didn’t complete every side quest or fully explore the entire map. I also failed a few missions after hitting the game’s points of no return. Even with these factors, it took me 72 hours to finish the main story. However, the developers have stated that the game can take over 100 hours, which seems accurate based on my experience. Had I taken my time to complete more optional objectives, my playtime would’ve been much longer.
For those focused only on the main campaign, it’s possible to finish the game faster, but even a rushed playthrough will likely take 50+ hours. Meanwhile, a completionist run—where you finish every quest, explore every location, and level up Henry as much as possible—can easily push beyond 100 hours.
Can You Keep Playing After Finishing the Story?
Yes! Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 allows you to continue playing after completing the main story. You can freely explore the world, finish any remaining untimed quests, and keep leveling your skills without restrictions. So far, there doesn’t seem to be any time limit on post-game free roam, meaning you can take your time cleaning up unfinished business.
That said, I don’t recommend leaving too much for the post-game. Once you hit the second point of no return, some quests will automatically fail, and you’ll even lose access to one of the best weapons in the game. Since there don’t appear to be any exclusive post-game quests, it’s better to wrap up everything before reaching the finale.
If you’re planning to focus on the main story, expect around 50–70 hours of gameplay. A more balanced run with a mix of side quests and exploration can stretch it to 80–100 hours, while a completionist playthrough can go well beyond 100 hours. And with no forced end to free roam, you can keep exploring even after the credits roll—just be sure to complete the most important quests before the final act.
