No RPG experience is complete without NPCs to romance, and Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t disappoint. While the options are perhaps a little more linear than other big open-world games, the rich narrative that brings each character to life more than makes up for it. Romancing characters in Cyberpunk 2077 boils down to interacting with specific NPCs at key moments and answering branching dialog choices in the correct way. There are seven characters you can romance, and it’s worth noting that some depend on which gender V you’re playing. Here’s the breakdown:
- Alt Cunningham – Automatically romanced through story progression, for any gender V.
- Judy Alvarez – Romanceable by Female V. Players must complete a series of side jobs culminating in the “Pyramid Song” quest where choices such as comforting Judy and responding positively to her the next morning solidify the relationship.
- River Ward – For Female V. After meeting him through the “I Fought the Law” side job, players should support River, make the right dialogue choices, especially in “The Hunt” and “Following the River” side jobs, to romance him.
- Panam Palmer – Male V can pursue Panam, needing to support and defend her throughout her questline. The “Queen of the Highway” side job allows for a romance scene, though not a long-term relationship.
- Kerry Eurodyne – Available for Male V, met during Johnny’s quests. The “Off the Leash” and “Boat Drinks” side jobs lead to opportunities to flirt and initiate a romance.
- Rogue – Romanced through Johnny taking over V’s body, regardless of V’s gender. The side jobs “Chippin’ In” and “Blistering Love” must be completed, with the latter involving a date and specific dialogue choices for the romance to occur.
In general, and as you’d probably guess, success with romancing these characters means choosing flirtatious dialogue options. Also, though, you’ll want to respond to their calls and messages and support them in their personal quests. Keep in mind that not every romance option in the game means starting a serious relationship. The game also features non-committal sexual encounters with JoyToys for a fee.
How to Romance Each Cyberpunk 2077 NPC
What is for sure, though, is that not all characters can be romanced in a single playthrough due to certain quests and dialogue choices being mutually exclusive. The romance options also have implications for the game’s ending. Here’s a step-by-step walkthrough of how to romance each character:
- Judy Alvarez (Female V only):
- Complete her side jobs related to the establishment called Clouds.
- In “Pyramid Song”, comfort Judy in the bathroom and choose [Touch] to kiss her.
- The next day, choose ‘The beginning of something amazing.’ to start a relationship.
- River Ward (Female V only):
- Complete the side job “I Fought the Law”.
- In “The Hunt”, find the correct barn and discourage River from vengeance.
- In “Following the River”, flirt and express your true feelings for him.
- Panam Palmer (Male V only):
- During “Ghost Town”, support Panam and propose sharing a room to save money.
- In “Lightning Breaks”, defend Panam and offer help.
- In “Riders on the Storm”, show affection but apologize if she’s uncomfortable.
- In “With a Little Help From My Friends”, support Panam’s plan and follow your impulses.
- In “Queen of the Highway”, select romantic dialogue options and [Let Panam Touch You] to initiate a romance scene.
- Kerry Eurodyne (Male V only):
- In “Off the Leash”, flirt with Kerry on the balcony.
- In “Boat Drinks”, engage warmly with Kerry, smash things together on the boat, and choose [Kiss] to initiate romance.
- Rogue (Johnny’s storyline, any gender V):
- In “Chippin’ In”, simply complete the job.
- In “Blistering Love”, ask Rogue out, compliment her, and choose “[Kiss] More than I expected” to trigger the romance scene.
Again, regardless of which romance you’re chasing, the general strategy is to be supportive, choose dialogue options that show interest and affection, and complete their related side jobs. Remember to answer calls and texts from these characters as neglecting them can affect your relationship.
