Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features many of the original game’s characters that we’ve come to know and love. We had Yuffie in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade DLC, and Vincent appears in Rebirth. Another fan-favorite character that we were eager to know about is Cid Highwind, the legendary pilot. Here, we answer the question, Can you play as Cid in FF7 Rebirth and take to the skies above the planet with him in your party?
Characters You Can Play in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
First, let’s go through the characters you can play as in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The party members you can recruit and play as are:
- Tifa Lockhart
- Barret Wallace
- Aerith Gainsborough
- Red XIII
- Yuffie Kisaragi
- Cait Sith
Is Cid Highwind Playable in FF7 Rebirth?
While Cid Highwind, the infamous pilot, does make an appearance in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, he unfortunately doesn’t join your party as a playable character. From relatively early in the game, Cid assists the party in various ways, but he remains a non-playable ally rather than an active member.
Similarly, Vincent Valentine, the elusive vampire, is encountered in Chapter 11 of the game. Despite his significant role in the story, he also does not become a playable character, preferring solitude over companionship.
So, there you have it: an answer to the question, ‘Can you play as Cid is playable in FF7 Rebirth?’ Unfortunately, he doesn’t join your party as a playable character, but he does appear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and play an integral role in the story. The playable characters we do have access to, however, provide good gameplay and personality variety, so you likely won’t rue Cid’s absence as a playable character too much.
