There’s new Diablo 4 content for fans to sink their teeth into on the way soon. The Season of the Malignant Battle Pass has been revealed by Blizzard and is set to commence on July 20, featuring 90 tiers, including 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers.

When the season begins, players who have purchased the deluxe or ultimate edition of the game can claim their free battle pass. They then have the option to skip tiers on the battle pass, with each tier skip costing 200 Platinum.
A newly published blog post outlines the workings of seasonal characters. “To engage in Seasons, players must create a new character on the Seasonal Realm. Purchasing a Battle Pass or any add-ons is not necessary to access Seasonal content, but completion of the campaign on either the Eternal or Seasonal Realm with at least one character is required.”
However, Blizzard has confirmed that seasonal characters will start the game with several perks. They can bypass the campaign entirely and gain immediate access to their mount, a privilege typically granted only two-thirds of the way through the game.
As part of Season 1 in Diablo 4, a new tier of enemies called Malignant Monsters will be introduced. Blizzard explains:
“These decaying abominations roam Sanctuary in a frenzy, mindlessly attacking anyone in range without hesitation. Wanderers will investigate this mysterious malady in a new Questline with the help of Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, who also trains you to capture the Malignant Hearts fueling these foul beasts and convert them into build-altering powers.
These new Malignant Hearts can be discovered in the season’s fresh dungeon, known as the Malignant Tunnels. Delve into this dank system of tunnels in search of the catalyst for Malignant Monsters, and if you dare, confront Varshan the Consumed, the latest Boss battle.
