There are few announcements capable of generating a buzz like the the reveal of a new Grand Theft Auto game. It’s been over a decade since the insanely popular GTA 5 launched, and it’s dominated the games industry ever since. Well, now it’s time for a new chapter; developer Rockstar Games has finally let the cat out of the bag regarding the release date of the GTA 6 trailer.
Rockstar confirmed the news through its official account on X, stating that the much-anticipated GTA 6 trailer would be unveiled on Tuesday, 5th December 2023. The GTA 6 trailer launch is scheduled for 2PM GMT for UK viewers, equivalent to 9 am ET.
The official announcement post featured an image of a sun-drenched cityscape, reminiscent of the iconic Vice City. This has led to widespread speculation about the game’s possible setting. It looks very much as though could be another Miami-inspired sandbox:
No surprises, the announcement hasn’t just stirred excitement but sparked a flurry of rumors and speculations about what the trailer might reveal. Will it be a cinematic trailer, or will it showcase gameplay elements? Will it give us a sneak peek into the game’s storyline and characters? Or will it simply tease us with glimpses of the new setting?
Even before today, rumors have been running rampant ever since we got wind of GTA 6’s anticipated reveal a few weeks back A Reddit user, claiming to have inside information, suggested that the trailer would showcase protagonists Jason and Lucia performing typical GTA activities such as robbing a store and evading the law enforcement. The user also claimed that the trailer would provide glimpses of Vice City. It’s highly probable the trailer will introduce new protagonists, so we’ll soon know if the rumored Jason and Lucia characters are accurate.
What we can say is that thanks to a recently discovered patent, the graphics in GTA 6 are apparently hyper-realistic. It refers to characters moving and reacting in ways that truly mirror the diverse scenarios of a living, breathing game world, from the impact of weather conditions to the subtleties of their physical states. That sounds enticing.
Of course, the journey to GTA 6’s official reveal has been a long and arduous one. With speculation floating around for years, the anticipation has been building steadily. A big leak in 2022 offered the first glimpse into the game. Since then, fans have been scouring the internet for any hint or clue about the game, often resorting to interpreting social media posts and alleged leaks for signs of an impending reveal.
The wait is soon-to-be finally over, though, so time to remove the tinfoil hats and stay away from the rumor mill. We can’t bloody wait!
