Alohomora is used to unlock doors, chests, demiguise statues, and magical artifacts hidden throughout Hogwarts. Fans of Harry Potter will well know this iconic series gives players the ability to access otherwise unreachable areas and hidden treasures. Here’s how to get Alohomora, use it, and upgrade the spell to reach and unlock secret areas in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Acquire Alohomora
Alohomora is not immediately available to players starting Hogwarts Legacy. You’ll be able to get it once you’ve completed the main story mission titled “The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament.” This quest, given by the Hogwarts caretaker, Gladwin Moon, requires players to locate and collect demiguise moons and remove the statues that he is terrified of. First things first, make sure you’re around Level 14 before taking this one on.
During the quest, Gladwin Moon requests the player’s help in locating and collecting demiguise moons and removing the statues that he is terrified of. To enter the faculty tower, where the demiguise moons are located, players will have to learn Alohomora. From then on, you can now unlock doors and chests throughout Hogwarts, gaining access to hidden passages, magical creatures, and valuable magical artifacts.
How to Use Alohomora
Using Alohomora in Hogwarts Legacy involves a lock-picking minigame. The steps to using it are as follows: After selecting the Alohomora spell, players will need to position the lights at the cardinal and intercardinal positions or every 45 degrees to successfully unlock doors and chests.
- Approach the locked door or chest.
- Press the Square button when you see the Prompt to use the spell.
- Rotate the outer circle with the Greenlight and hold it there with the analog key phasing to the direction.
- Rotate the inner circle with the red button until you find the sweet spot while holding the green light at the correct position.
- Once you reach the sweet spot, the door will unlock, allowing you to proceed.
When using the spell, remember that the correct spot for the lights can only be at the cardinal and intercardinal positions or every 45 degrees. Avoid wasting time checking the spaces in between, and focus on rotating your lights to these specific positions.
Upgrading Alohomora Spell
To unlock level two and level three locks, players will need to find demiguise statues and collect more demiguise moons. Keep in mind that demiguise moons can only be collected at night, adding an extra layer of challenge and adventure to the gameplay experience.
- Level Two: Bring Gladwin Moon nine Demiguise moons.
- Level Three: Bring Gladwin Moon thirteen Demiguise moons.
